Clúid Housing celebrates 10,000 homes milestone
Today, Clúid Housing celebrated the landmark achievement of 10,000 homes in management at an event in Dublin with residents and colleagues. There are over 27,000 people currently living in a home managed by Clúid.
Clúid is committed to providing quality housing and services that enable people to create homes and thriving communities and aims to increase its annual output over the coming years, with 15 building sites currently active. In 2022 alone, Clúid delivered over 1,000 new homes into management.
Clúid is one of Ireland’s largest approved housing bodies (AHBs) providing affordable, high-quality homes and housing management services to people in housing need across 31 Local Authorities.
In recent years Clúid has expanded its offerings to include 911 age-friendly homes delivered by Clann, its dedicated housing service for older persons. This model empowers residents to live for as long as possible in sustainable, secure, high-quality, affordable homes in their own community. The key to achieving this is to provide a safe and secure environment with access to all relevant services and community supports.
Clúid has also led the sector in the delivery of over 270 Cost Rental homes. This new form of tenure in Ireland, allows residents to pay rents that are solely based on the cost to build, manage, and maintain the homes.
Clúid’s Chief Executive Officer, Brian O’Gorman commented, “Clúid’s vision is ‘a society where everyone has a great place to live’, and I am delighted to announce today that 27,099 people are living in our 10,272 homes. Everyone in Clúid has worked hard over the years to achieve this milestone and I would like to congratulate each of them.
We work closely with the Minister for Housing, the Housing Finance Agency and others in the housing sector and I would like to thank each of them for their ongoing support. Clúid is very proud of this achievement, but the work doesn’t end here. We are committed to building on this number and giving more people and families the opportunity to live in secure, quality housing”.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD said: “Reaching 10,000 homes in management is a significant milestone and I congratulate Brian and everyone in Clúid for their commitment and dedication to achieving it. The Government’s Housing for All programme will exceed its targets for 2023, and it is milestones like this one today that are contributing to this success. While there is always more to be done, we should mark the milestones as they come and use them to encourage us to continue the hard work and ambition to achieve more for our communities”.
Clúid is committed to providing quality housing and services that enable people to create homes and thriving communities and aims to increase its annual output over the coming years, with 15 building sites currently active.
The residents are at the centre of Clúid’s work and that was seen at today’s celebration, where residents were represented by members of Clúid’s National Residents’ Advisory Group (NRAG) and the Clann Residents’ Advisory Group (CRAG), as well as residents from the Marewood Court scheme in Ballymun, Dublin 11.
Dorothy Seagrave, Clúid resident and member of the Clúid National Residents’ Advisory Group (NRAG), said: “It’s been wonderful to see the rapid and amazing change since I became a Clúid resident five years ago. I’m particularly struck by the focus on building sustainable communities, and how residents have been encouraged to become more involved. This milestone, of 10,000 Clúid homes, is testament to staff and residents, past and present – we got here as a group, and as a group we will go forward and achieve even more.”
Putting the residents and staff at the heart of activity is also a key strategic principle of Clúid’s new corporate strategy, Securing the Future, which was launched earlier this week. The strategy will direct Clúid in achieving its key objective of creating an environment to support the delivery of affordable homes and the provision of services to meeting the needs of our current and future residents.
