Housing Minister officially opens social housing development in Tullamore

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD, today officially opened Clúid Housing’s development of 26 social homes at Jacksons Hill, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

Constructed by John Flanagan Developments, Jacksons Hill is a newly completed A-rated scheme providing 6 two-bed and 20 3-bed homes. The scheme was delivered via Clúid’s bespoke Developer Design and Build process, whereby Clúid purchased the site and entered into a development agreement with John Flanagan Developments, who then managed the design and construction of the project.

These A2 rated homes have been designed with the resident in mind. The homes are equipped with highly efficient air-to-water heats pumps and PV Panels. Such equipment is not only efficient, but also an economical method of providing heat, hot water and electricity.

The scheme came into management in May 2022, with residents housed from Offaly County Council’s housing list. The rent on the units is based on Offaly County Council’s rent policy and the council retain full nomination rights on the properties.

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD said: “I’m delighted to be on site here at another brilliant development from Clúid and their partners. There is high demand for housing in Offaly and these much needed social homes will provide another 26 families and individuals with homes for life. As I outlined last week, the housing targets for 2022 will be exceeded and it’s Approved Housing Bodies like Clúid that are helping us to deliver our Housing for All plan.”

Daniel Forde, New Business Manager at Clúid, said that, “As with all schemes, collaboration was key in ensuring the successful delivery of these high-quality sustainable homes. We worked extensively with Offaly County Council on this project, and these homes would not have been delivered without the support of themselves, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Housing Finance Agency, The Housing Agency and John Flanagan Developments.

“Clúid’s vision is ‘a society where everyone has a great place to live’. Not only are these homes of an excellent standard, but there is landscaped greenspace to help these residents build a thriving open community. We’re proud to have played a part in providing these households with secure and affordable housing into the future”.
