Birchwood 20th Birthday celebrations

Clúid’s vision is a society where everyone has a great place to live. We aim to achieve this vision by providing quality housing and services that enable people to create homes and thriving communities.

One of our more established communities came out in force this summer in celebration of a landmark for the neighbourhood. The residents of Birchwood in Waterford celebrated 20 years this year, and during the summer the Residents Committee put on quite a show for the neighbourhood.

In May the celebrations began with ‘Birchwood in Bloom’, the residents on the estate proudly displayed flower baskets on the front of their houses which gave a splash of summer colour to Birchwood. Indeed, the blooms were so lovely, that Birchwood has been shortlisted for Cluid’s Great Places to Live competition under Best Neighbourhood category.

The celebrations culminated in late August with a Family Fun Day. The organisers were busy planning this day to ensure that there would be food and activities and fun for all the residents. Door to door collections were organised to assist with the costs, flyers were created and distributed to each house. The weather was glorious, blue skies and sunshine.

Early in the afternoon several bouncy castles were erected on the main green, children were lining up eager for the fun to begin. Food, refreshments, and ice-creams were supplied throughout the afternoon. Families picnicked on the green, neighbours were chatting and reacquainting themselves with each other after months of covid restrictions.

Almost 100 Birchwood neighbours took part in the celebrations for the Family Fun Day which was a very enjoyable and welcome celebration.
