18th Nov, 2019

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy has today laid the first bricks at a Wexford development on behalf of Clúid Housing, the country’s largest approved housing body (AHB).

The 52 homes – 6 x 2-bed apartments, 4 x 2-bed houses, 6 x 3-bed duplexes/maisonettes, 20 x 3-bed houses, 10 x 3-bed dormer bungalows and 6 x 4-bed houses – will be built at Pairc na gCon, Greenville Lane, Enniscorthy.

David Murphy, New Business Manager at Clúid, said that the development will go towards meeting housing demand in the town.

“These homes will provide a number of different housing options for the people of Wexford, offering families, single and older people the choice they need to make a home for life.

“Clúid has worked extensively with Wexford County Council and Rebuilding Ireland on this project and we thank them for their commitment to delivering these homes.

“This development will help us in our aim of delivering 2,500 homes over three years.”
Minister Murphy said:

“I am delighted to be here in Wexford to mark the start of construction of 52 new social homes. Cluid and Wexford County Council have secured funding from my Department and the Housing Finance Agency, to build these homes. Wexford County Council have a large number of projects underway across the county many in partnership with Assisted Housing Bodies. My Department will continue to delivery of both social and private housing across the country, to ensure supply continues to catch up with demand.”

Clúid is financing the development of these units through a combination of a Capital Advance and Availability Payment from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and a loan facility with the Housing Finance Agency (HFA).

The rent on the units will be based on Wexford County Council’s rent policy and the council will retain full nomination rights on the properties.
